Hands on Management
DEF Ltd
German listed Company DEF (UK subsidiary). We were introduced to the
directors by their UK bank and we operate effectively as their UK
financial directors. We implemented and now control the internal
financial systems, report to the holding company, managing tax,
financial planning and handling year-end accounts, corporation tax
and coordination of the external audit. We attend regular meetings
with the UK Managing Director and German Group Finance Director to
help them implementation.
Growth and Change
HT Engineering
Recommended by their local National Westminster Bank manager, a
father and son partnership in Hinckley needed accountants who would
take more than just an occasional interest in their electrical
engineering business. They wanted to change from their longstanding
accountants who they only saw once a year and who treated them
as a small client and did not discuss business planning with them.
We have helped develop the partnership for several years including
managing the retirement of the father from the business. While
preparing annual accounts we identified a significant tax saving
from incorporation as well as ongoing commercial benefits. The
business is now incorporated. Several years on the business has
expanded and two new shareholders have been recruited, contributing
funds into the business in a tax efficient manner whilst allowing
the existing shareholder to realise (tax free) some of the inherent
value in the business.
Management Buyout
ABC Ltd
(video conferencing and production company)
ABC uses Brockhurst Davies for taxation and general business
consulting. In the past two years we have advised the company and
its directors on the tax implications of a management buyout and a
group restructure. In addition we have dealt with common issues like
employee remuneration packages, share options, company car
arrangements, tax efficient extraction of funds from the company and
inheritance tax planning.
Personal Tax Savings
Mr G was recommended to us by his bank manager. He exercised his
share options from an overseas employer and the Inland Revenue had
incorrectly taxed the income and confused Mr G with their payments
on an account system resulting in a substantial surcharge being
raised. We reviewed the paperwork and successfully corresponded with
the Tax Authorities to cancel the surcharge and achieved a repayment
of approximately £20,000 for him.

Significant Partnership
A Nottinghamshire business, with 15 partners were supported by a
"Big 5" firm who completed all their accounts and tax affairs.
Frustrated with the lack of personal attention they moved their
personal tax affairs to work with Brockhurst Davies two years ago.
